Umineko Anime Ep. 6 Preview

  • They tweaked Beato so that she doesn’t look that Asian anymore.
  • TOMITAKE FLASH
  • TSURUPETTAN
  • We are getting a fuckload of non-tsundora Kugyuu during the next episodes. I’m not complaining.
  • DEEN is going to snatch the Touhou anime rights away from SHAFT. Hilarity ensues.

This is the right way, DEEN. Keep this up. I can only cross my fingers, hoping that you redeem yourselves.

(ps. I have nothing against Asians, it’s just that… Beatrice should be the least Asian of all. I mean, they are all japanese, while she is a western-style blond witch)

Umineko Anime Ep. 5 – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

The Good:

  • Beato, at fucking last. Sayaka Ohara’s performance is orgasmic
  • Budget went up compared to the previous episodes. This is easily noticeable by looking at the character art, among other stuff (no, not the badly drawn clock at 00:00 AM)
  • Quite a few BGMs from the visual novel (dead angle, オルガン小曲_第6億番_ハ短調, rougoku, suspicion… just to mention a few)
  • George is finally passable enough. Still keeps some of his bishounen looks, but at least he is not as repulsive as in the previous episodes
  • Shannon. I love when Kugyuu plays these kind of roles, so much different from her stereotyped tsundora characters
  • Close-ups to Shannon’s, Jessica’s and Beato’s “assets”. I don’t mind this kind of fanservice, especially if the exposition gets boring. At least there’s always something good to look at instead of corpses.

The Bad:

  • The excessive use of Maria’s “emo facial distortions”
  • I don’t remember that the tea party was ever played in the mansion parlor. Although this is one of the few grievances that I’m willing to ignore

The Ugly:

  • Beato’s eyes make her look too Asian and her neck makes her look like a giraffe There’s nothing wrong with Beato, she is perfect. I love her so much ♥♥♥! (I’m totally not biased)
  • Stupid Sexy Bernkastel. I fap to hate her so much. She can stab herself in the head with a knife for all I care

Anyways, this episode was a step in the right direction. Maybe it’s just a fleeting illusion, because we actually reached the meat of the story, but still… the episode was well executed. I don’t deny that DEEN still has 21 whole episodes to keep fucking shit up, but if they keep this level of quality I’ll probably enjoy all those episodes as much as this one. It’s not like I had high expectations for this adaptation in the first place.

Umineko Anime Ep. 4 – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

The Ugly:

The Good:

  • The whole Kanon boiler room scene was really well done. Cackle + Stakes!
  • I must admit that I laughed when Kanonlouch said “Zero!”. Here’s hoping for for some epic Kanonlouch vs. Georgezaku in the visual novel.
  • We are done with this awful episode adaptation next week

The Bad:

  • I can say with certainty that they will fuck up the remaining episodes as well
  • I’m masochist enough to keep watching this to the end

No Name Losers on Family Project

By way of 4chan comes NNL’s complaints about Family Project, a visual novel recently released by JAST USA for the English-speaking visual novel crowd.

NNL’s main complaint is the following:

So JAST USA made the claim that the game is “fully uncensored [18+].” Wrong! While most of the game is indeed uncensored, they photoshopped several images of Matsuri, the youngest girl.

And THIS, good sirs, is why the world still keeps looking at the otaku community with disgust. I do see the reasons for JAST to do this (they are just covering all their flanks, mind you that the depicted character is actually 13, regardless of what JAST advertises), all the more when there are groups of people like NNL with their creepy pedophile attitude, ready to show the wrong side about your hobby.

Evaneko Anime Ep. 3 – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Yes, it still sucks.

The Good:

  • shirabe \o/
  • George actually looks normal now (sort of) (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
  • Lots of Eva. I love Miki Ito’s voice.

The Bad (and Ugly):

The Lulz:

The Meme:

Also, is it just me, or does Maria have some BIG lips? (She is going to be quite the bombshell when she grows up)

Umineko Anime Eps. 1 & 2 – The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

Posted in Random Musings on July 9th, 2009 by sage – Be the first to comment

EPISODE 1:

The Good:

  • The opening and ending songs
  • Koshimizu’s performance as Rosa is delicious
  • Horie Yui is doing a great job with Maria (Yes, she is supposed to be THAT annoying)
  • They used some of the VN BGMs
  • Surprisingly, OnoD can pull a lecherous Battler quite perfectly

The Bad:

  • Practically no introduction to most characters
  • The pace is way too fast

The Ugly:

  • Censoring mild insults in late night anime
  • Balloon tits PIG DISGUSTING (They ruined Natsuhi’s moe ;_; )
  • Bishounen Code Geassy retrovirus (Kanon = Lelouch, George = Lloyd)
  • Battler’s eyes, the horror!

EPISODE 2:

The Good:

  • Headache Natsuhi is always moe
  • New Moe Natsuhi mode: Pajama Natsuhi!!! \o/
  • Flustered big breasted maid Kugyuu FTW
  • Some VN BGMs were used

The Bad:

  • Even faster pacing, which made everything look disjointed. Looks like a couple of random scenes sloppily spliced together (and since everything is playing at like 10x, the main idea of some scenes radically changed. ie. George’s confession to Shannon)

The Ugly:

  • goldenslaughterer… they only play like 40 seconds of it, and none of it is the climax of the song
  • Because of the former, added to fast pacing, the First Twilight lost most of its shock value

Anyways, I’m just hoping that they get this episode done already, because they already dropped the ball on it and it doesn’t seem like they’ll pick it up soon enough.
