About that “Meguca” show…

Zyl on OreImo 07
Via Author comes this excerpt from Zyl’s post @ Sea Slug Team:
The Shibuya outing has pushed me towards the interpretation that Kirino has brother complex (brocon) – wanting him to buy her that gauche heart-shaped ring and then making him take her to a love hotel (where nothing much happened) makes it extremely difficult to see her as not having brocon. There were other signs too – I might be reading too much into it but I thought Kirino looked downcast when Kyousuke refused, asked why he had to buy the ring and she said it was something that a girl would like her loved one to do for her, before hastily covering it up with the hypothetical and story research angle. In contrast, she was really happy with the heart-shaped earrings that he did eventually buy her and put them on as soon as she could. [...]
Well, whoop-dee-fscking-do, Zyl. This show is nothing but wish fulfillment for every siscon otaku around the globe. Don’t think that you are overanalizing this – quite the contrary. The scriptwriters have been very blatant about this. Maybe you were just being too dense to notice it before.
A good recommendation for everybody who loves this show: Be honest with yourselves and accept that this show is what it is – trope:WishFulfillment for siscons. I’m not saying that it’s wrong to like this show, quite the contrary, you are entitled to your own tastes, but… even if you are not a siscon, watching it and liking it but denying what this show truly is is going to give you weird looks everywhere.
ps. Sure, you don’t have to be a siscon to watch the show. Don’t most people like Kuroneko more anyway? My favorite is Ayase.
HNNNNGGGGG!!!

I'm not even into Kokoro, but... daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn...
OreImo confirmed for INCEST
I’d say this was already foreordained, but some people are still in denial and refuse to believe that this can’t evolve into anything else but an incest show. Straight from OreImo’s author’s blog:
◆俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない(7)
著/伏見つかさ イラスト/かんざきひろ 定価:578円
「お、おまたせっ」
顔を上げると、照れくさそうな微笑みを浮かべている……俺の彼女がそこにいた。俺の愛しい恋人である彼女の名前は、高坂桐乃。
「あんたのこと……“京介”って、呼ぶから」
「だって、その方が……恋人っぽいじゃん?」
Translation for the bolded segment goes like this:
“Th, thanks for waiting”
Lifting up her face, that shy smile looking up at me… it’s my girlfriend. My lovely girlfriend, Kirino
“I should call you… ‘Kyousuke’.
“Because… that’s more like lovers right?”
Anyway, say what you want, denialfags, but there’s no turning back. Even if this happens to be some silly out-of-context excerpt (like, Kyousuke pretending to be Kirino’s boyfriend for some reason), the author is clearly pandering to his audience. Maybe you guys did expect something better from this, but this is Japan we are talking about. You should have known better.

UPDATE: NovaJinx says that it’s all the author’s trolling, and provides a pic as proof.
Xebec, why you do this?

Why, Xebec? Why?
I trusted Xebec, and it betrayed me in this horrible way. I’ll just pretend that this never happened. Only this happened:
What the fuck, feel.

Seriously guys, what the fuck? I don’t even know what to say. What’s the point of this scene anyway? Were they trying to make the viewer feel aroused? Because it certainly ain’t working. They made spill my water and then laugh at how bad this was.
It’s amazing how this show has already guaranteed its failure with this blatant and shameless use of smut… while XEBEC, kings of everything that is smut, have been driving MM! just fine with minimal (if any) use of fanservice. It feels as if Yosuga no Sora wins the “XEBEC of the Season” award, and stuff like MM! wins the “J.C.Staff of the Season” award. What is this world coming to?
Not dead yet!

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated, Peter
(As if anyone cares about this shit blog lol)
Anyway, I barely get enough motivation to write here because whatever I want to say, I just say it over IRC and that’s it. Now, what did I want to write about…
– Fall Anime Shows I’ll Definitely Follow:
Ok, quick summary of my opinion, accompanied with a reminder of the waifu I’m dibbing because I’m silly like that.
- MM! has been the surprise of the season. I read the first three volumes of the manga about a month before it started, and found it to be pretty damn entertaining. I was very sad when I saw that LOL XEBEC was in charge of it, but I gotta admit, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the work here. They are concentrating on everything that made the manga good, and they have successfully produced something that’s pleasant to watch and fun to boot. Two episodes are too early to judge anything, seeing how some shows seem to spectacularly trainwreck after those (from last season, Occult Academy comes to mind), but I’m willing to give Xebec the benefit of doubt just this once.
Waifu: None so far. Traptsukichi is hot but ewww.
- The World God Only Knows is without a doubt the show I was anticipating the most. Most fans crossed their fingers and wished for Manglobe to come up with something decent, and they did deliver. The show sure is quite a looker. They even focused on making Elsee look cuter than in the manga (instead of showing her as terminally stupid like the manga did), which is something I approve. The OP was also a nice surprise, probably best looking OP of this season. Of course, it can’t be all that perfect: Everybody and their dog pitched FukuJun for Keima’s role, and Hiro Shimono really can’t compare… he can probably do a good job on Keima, but for now his performance was just average.
Waifu: If I had to pick one… Tenri. Then Jun, Sumire and Ayumi.
- Index II tried to play it safe with their new first episode, with mixed results. I liked the first season (fuck the haters and their ADD, I don’t get distracted by exposition), and after seeing that this one looks just as good, I have high hopes for it. You thought the first episode was meh? I concur, but this was just some random extra story to reintroduce the characters. Just wait until they pick up the better plot threads.
Waifu: Mikoto, d’oh.
- Sora no Otoshimono ƒ is fucking Sora no Otoshimono, there’s no way in hell I’m skipping this one. T&A and porn and lulz and shit. Rock on, Tomoki. Rock on… you goddamn creepy pervert midget.
Waifu: Ikaros.
All the other shows I didn’t mention were probably crap (Gay Dogs, 4chan Art.), boring (OreImo), both (Bakuman., Yakumo, Letter Bee, Iron Man, etc… lots of shit here), gay (Gay Dogs again, Hakuouki) or I’m just undecided about them (Zakuro, IkaMusu, Samurai Girls). Some, I haven’t even watched yet.
– Current VAs Suck Smelly Horse Dong:
Discussion sparked by this nice rant. Kurogane already expanded on it. Not much to say about this, everyone noticed this years ago but it was so obvious that we just didn’t say a thing. But I guess it IS getting quite a bit infurating. Anyway, I’m placing a lot of the blame on the current Japanese otaku. They wanted their VAs as shitty idols, and they sure are getting them. Bloggers like Hashihime certainly aren’t helping.
While discussing this over IRC, I said that this catastrophe in voice acting has felt a lot like the dot-com bubble from the late 90s/early 2000. I remarked that one of the most ironic things to come from it is that, that talentless hack known as Aya Hirano was so popular at the time, that the bubble burst did her in. Hilarious.
I don’t have any more to say about this aside from underlining that I do miss the truly good VAs that made anime good not only from watching, but also from listening to it. The current half-assed attempts from crap idol teens almost make you cry. Friggin’ moe rage.
– Peter Zaitcev (“Author”) Should Man Up And Watch Gankutsuou Already
That is all.
On the topic of online manga readers closing…
Posted by sage in Manga, Random Musings on July 23, 2010

My interest to write about this issue was sparked by a discussion on #animeblogger about it.
< Blue-kun > Boy, this onemanga drama is ~fabulous~
< Blue-kun > There’s hardly anything as entertaining as reading people say they’re mad that onemanga is closing down
< Blue-kun > “It’s a crime”
<@Guncannon > LIQUIDATE
<@Guncannon > Why, Blue-kun?
< Blue-kun> And then there are those who even come up with stuff like “Let’s all donate some money for the cause, maybe our money can save the website!!”
<@Guncannon > lol
<+sentinel011> …
< Blue-kun > Donating to save an illegal website — Okay.
< Blue-kun > Buying mangas? Oh god I can’t do that.
Sarcasm aside, it’s clear as water where the problem really lies. Read the rest of this entry »
